Why identical item names sell for tens of times apart

Options are rolled at random, so two items whose names match character for character are not the same product and should not cost the same.

The same name is not the same item

"[3 Option]" on the end of a name means that copy carries three randomly rolled options, and every copy rolls differently. Two items whose names match exactly are different products.

In a real market these make up most of what is for sale, not some edge case — so a price gap of tens of times under one name is ordinary, not an error.

What you are buying is the roll, not the name

One weapon might roll ATK +20 and ASPD +1. Another, identically named, rolls ATK +22 plus armour-piercing against a particular monster family. The second commands many times the price because those options are worth far more to a player.

So do not trust an "average price"

A site that averages by name alone can be wrong by tens of times. Worse, it makes a listing below that average look like a bargain, when the real explanation is usually that it rolled badly.

That is why this site never shows an average for a bare name, and why any "below median" label always has that listing's options next to it.

Only compare at the same refine level

The other thing kept apart is refine. The median is calculated among items at the same refine level: pool a +7 with unrefined copies and every unrefined listing looks absurdly underpriced when it is priced perfectly normally.

Reading a roll quickly

Before you buy, check three things in this order:

1. Do the options match your job and how you play? Piercing against brute monsters is worth a lot if you fight them daily and close to nothing if you do not. 2. Are the numbers at the top or bottom of their range? ATK +26 and ATK +6 are the same option at very different quality. 3. Only then look at the price. A suspiciously cheap listing is nearly always explained by one of the two above.

If it still looks cheap after those three, that is the real find.
